QGC not connecting to the vehicle in custom world for SITL

I followed the above steps to launch the gz_x500 model in my custom world. Next, when I launch QGC, it stays in “Not Connected” mode and never connects. This is my error log:

A lot of mesh errors but I think it should be fine. I dont get the pxh commander prompt and no message saying that it is ready for takeoff. What can I do to ensure communication with QGC? Thanks in advance.
