GPS Signal Loss When Connecting Fiber Optic Spool to Kakute H7 FPV Setup

Hello everyone,

I’m working on an FPV drone setup for my final year project, using the following components:

  • Kakute H7 flight controller
  • 4-in-1 ESC
  • GPS module
  • Video transmitter and FPV camera
  • Fiber optic spool for communication

Everything works well when the fiber optic spool is not connected. The GPS module locks onto satellites quickly and maintains a strong signal.

However, as soon as I connect the fiber optic spool to the system, the GPS begins to lose satellites or fails to acquire them altogether. I suspect the issue may be due to electromagnetic interference (EMI) caused by components inside the spool—possibly an inductor or switching circuit—that’s affecting the GPS reception.

Has anyone experienced a similar issue or have any suggestions on how I can isolate or mitigate this interference?

Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!
