Has anyone out there developed MAVSDK support for NextVision observation systems? To be a little more specific, we’re using a NextVision DragonEye2 camera with NextVision’s TRIP5 companion computer and we’d like to be able to control (adjust gimbal pitch/yaw, zoom in and out, switch between EO and IR) this system by using MAVSDK in Python, but it looks like NextVision components require certain extensions to MAVLink. Any help, suggestions, guidance, etc., on this topic would be greatly appreciated!
Hi @Sam_Cutler just curious if you have found any solution to this question?
We didn’t. Trying to develop around the NextVision MAVLink extension just wasn’t worth our time. We also found that their cameras/gimbals generally weren’t the best option to use in our application. I suggest taking a look at the FLIR Hadron 640R with the Gremsy G-Hadron gimbal. We’ve had a lot of success controlling the G-Hadron with MAVSDK.
@Sam_Cutler I agree, I’ve put off messing with their extension stuff. Thanks for the recommendation for hardware.
@Sam_Cutler my company has experience in integrating NextVision cameras. Feel free to DM on here.
@dirksavage88 I would love to chat with you about our application. We’ve moved on from NextVision, but we have tons of other projects on the roadmap that you and/or your company might be able to help us out with. For some reason, I’m not seeing any options to send a DM through this PX4 Forum. Can you send one to me? If not, maybe we can find some other platform to communicate on?
I sent you a message on here. On the left hand side under categories there should be a messages heading, under that is inbox.
Hi @dirksavage88 @Sam_Cutler ! I am also stuck at this. I just want to control next vision over mavproxy or pymavlink. I’d really appreciate if you can help.
I have TRIP6 connected to both FC as well as next vision
Thanks
