Flight Test Report: Long-Endurance VTOL UAV Platform

We team have been testing a large-scale VTOL UAV platform and exploring PX4-based integration for long endurance missions. I’d like to share some details and get feedback from the community.

Current Platform overview:

  • Type: Fuel-activated electric VTOL fixed wing
  • Wingspan: ~6.6m (expanded)
  • Weight: 137kg (unladen) / 162kg (full fuel)
  • Max take-off weight: 200kg
  • Payload capacity: up to 55kg
  • Endurance: up to 420min (no load), 380min (with 10kg payload)
  • Max speed: 42m/s, Cruise: 35m/s
  • Wind resistance: Level 7 (fixed-wing mode)
  • Altitude limit: 5000m

Mainly hope to be applied to:
Emergency rescue, border inspection, mountain operations, aerial survey, and long-range communication support.

We are particularly interested in hearing from the PX4 community about:

  • Best practices for integrating PX4 on large heavy-payload VTOL UAVs
  • Tips on optimizing endurance with high payloads
  • Experiences with stable transitions between hover and forward flight

Does anyone have any experience to share in this regard?
