Barometric altimeter in Fixed Wing / VTOL

As I understand FW and VTOL setup still use internal MS5611 (on pixhawk board) even is airspeed sensor is available.

Is it a good idea to have external i2c ms5611 in sealed box connected to static port on pitot tube? Or maybe it is possible to extract absolute pressure from airspeed sensor?

In my case pixhawk is mounted in fuselage which is ventilated via push propeller so internal pressure can significantly drop on large RPMs that leads to altitude drop.

If you try the external barometer solution we should check that it’s properly recognized as external and given priority over the internal.

You can’t get absolute pressure from the airspeed sensors I’m familiar with.
