I’m encountering an issue in PX4 Offboard Mode where the drone, when commanded to hover at a point, initially spins around for a while before finally moving to the target position and hovering. I’m seeking advice on the possible causes and solutions for this problem.
After switching to Offboard Mode and setting a target position, the drone struggles to orient itself initially and starts spinning. Only after some time does it correct its direction and move to the target position to hover.
I’ve attached a GIF showing the issue. You can see the moment when the drone finally stabilizes and moves to the desired position.
I would appreciate any insights or additional solutions from those who have experienced similar issues.

Thank you, JulianOes, for your quick response and insights. I appreciate the guidance on the possible issue related to the mag/heading. I’ll definitely check the compass mounting and recalibrate it as per the PX4 documentation you shared.
In the meantime, I’ll also review the flight logs to see if there are any indications of incorrect heading information during the initial phase of the flight.
If you could let me know which specific parts of the flight log I should focus on to identify potential issues, I would greatly appreciate it. If I find anything unusual or if the problem persists after recalibration, I’ll share the logs here for further analysis.
