I am a hardware engineer working on multirotor BLDC motor design. Recently we are comparing motors with different winding inductance for heavy‑lift multirotor platforms.
During bench testing, we noticed that motors of similar KV and thrust rating but different phase inductance behave differently under DShot driving. Even with identical ESC timing and PX4 parameters, some units show higher high‑frequency noise captured in ULog, without obvious mechanical imbalance.
I understand low inductance motors need higher ESC refresh rate. But I’m trying to clarify two points for PX4 integration:
- To what extent does motor phase inductance itself contribute to vibration peaks inside flight logs, separate from mechanical imbalance or bearing issues?
- When using DShot, are there any PX4‑side parameter adjustments specifically recommended to compensate for very‑low or very‑high‑inductance BLDC motors?
We keep ESC firmware unchanged in comparison tests, only swap motor samples. I would like to hear practical experience from integrators who have tuned different motor winding types on PX4.
