Rolling shutter for position control

Hi all,

I want to ask if rolling shutter cameras are suitable for optical flow position control. I know that is used a global shutter camera on PX4 optical flow device, but if was used a rolling type instead, how much will be affected precision and is it usable for this porpuse?

The usual answer: It depends. You can get away with rolling shutter if the readout speed is really fast and/or you’re compensating in your estimator.
