Hi everyone:
My remote ID modules are stand-alone units mounted on each drone. I can see them in the Drone Scanner app on my phone. But when I launch QGC there is a message that the RID is not there. Is there a setting in QGC to turn on this function?
Thanks,
Joe
I found where to enable RID.
However when I boot up the drone I get this.
Something it not right. How do I connect the RID module to QGC? Can anyone help with this?
Thanks,
Joe
Which version of px4 are you running?
It seems like RID is only working px4 with v1.14 or later.
I’m using PX4 v1.13.3
I tried another drone flashed with PX4 v1.14.0 but it didn’t work. So I’m back to the same issue. How to get QGC to recognize a RID module?
Joe
Hello, I recently had to go through this same issue. I got it to work but I am really not sure how. First, make sure you are using the very latest version of PX4. Second, follow this link as they might help. I know it involves using “mission planner”, but this is how I got it to work. Also, when downloading mission planner, make sure you download the latest zip file, and not the .msi file.
I’ve been looking into this question and found out that not every RID module is equipped to work with QGC. In order for it to communicate with QGC it needs to be plugged into the PX4 via TELEM2. That path provides the necessary data to tell QGC via telemetry where the drone is located. For your own drone this is redundant information since you already know where your drone is. But it now can report actual GPS coordinates in addition to the position shown on the waypoint map.
There are only a few RID modules on the market that can do this, Holybro being one of them. What I still don’t know is how another drone in your vicinity can also be reported on QGC?
