Reconnecting to Pixhawk after Link Loss

During a test flight for a Pixhawk 2.4.8, I tested the RTH function, and it worked as intended.
I retested with the intent to reconnect to the drone and take over the controls mid RTH function, and I couldn’t. Controller reconnected and showed full TX and RX signal, but the drone wouldn’t accept any inputs.

Is there a setting that needs to be changed, or is this normal for Pixhawks once a loss link event occurs?
