Pixhawk TELEM cable wire type, AWG, and sourcing for custom design

Hi everyone,

I am currently working on an electronic design involving a Pixhawk Cube flight controller, and I need some clarification regarding the TELEM port cable specifications.

From my understanding, the TELEM port uses a JST-GH 6-pin cable, but I would like to confirm the following:

  1. What is the exact wire type used in standard Pixhawk TELEM cables?
(e.g., silicone insulated, PVC, stranded tinned copper, etc.)

  2. What is the typical wire gauge (AWG)?
Is it usually 28 AWG or 26 AWG?

  3. Are there any official specifications or recommended standards for these cables (temperature rating, voltage rating, insulation type)?

  4. What is the correct name/keyword to search for this cable or wire online?
(For example: “30 AWG silicone wire”, “JST-GH telemetry cable”, etc.)

  5. Where can I reliably source this type of wire or pre-made cable for custom hardware design?

For reference, I am considering using 30 AWG silicone insulated wire for signal lines due to flexibility and space constraints.

Example of wire I am referring to:

Typical specs I found:

  • Silicone insulation (high flexibility)

  • Tinned copper conductor

  • Temperature rating up to ~200°C ()

  • Voltage rating around 600V ()

I would appreciate guidance on whether this is suitable for TELEM/UART signals and best practices for such designs.

Thanks in advance
