Pixhawk 6X configuation troubles

Hello!

I recently got a Holybro X500 V2 development kit which included a Pixhawk 6X flight controller. I planned to flash ArduPilot on it using the Mission Planner software but that didn´t work out. I always get the error, that Windows can´t recognize the plugged in USB device when I connect the Pixhawk to my PC via the USB cable. So my guess was that it has to do something with the virtual COM-Port or the drivers for it because it seems that Windows tries to recognise it as a standard USB device.

I did already some research and tried a few things but couldn´t get it to work. Here is a list of things I tried:

  • Different USB Cables. I tried different USB-C to USB-A cables or USB-C to USB-C cables, as some people had problems with it.
  • Connect the Pixhawk before/after entering the Configuration Menu in Mission Planner or QGroundControl
  • Different USB Ports as some ports might not deliver enough power to supply the Pixhawk
  • Different PC´s
  • I disabled Driver Signature Enforcement in windows, because maybe those drivers included with Mission Planner or QGroundControl arent officially signed and therefore blocked. I then reinstalled everything again but that didn´t work.
  • Downloaded all kinds of different drivers (like FTDI Chips) and tried to assign them manually in the device manager to the found device.

What does work is connecting the SiK Telemtry to my PC and the Pixhawk and start QGroundControl. Power is supplied via the USB-Cable that is connected to my PC. I can get a connection to the flightcontroller and do some basic configuration but I cant update the firmware or flash ardupilot via the telemetry connection. So this suggests that that the Pixhawk wasnt delivered with some kind of defect.

Somehow in all the set up tutorials I´ve watched the USB connection on the PC simply works by plugging in the cable. I am pretty sure the problems have to do something with the virtual comport because windows always tries to recognise the device as a USB device.

Does anyone have some suggestions of what else I could try?

Best regards,
Andreas

I wonder if it is a power issue. can you try powering the pixhawk with the provided power module and battery and try plugging it in?

I have not seen something like this before.

I havent tried this out yet because the power supply of the USB seems to be sufficient as the connection via SiK Telemtry works.

But thanks for your advice, I will give it a go soonish!

I guess you tried it already, but, on my computer, I’ve three 4 USB ports. Some work with some USB-to-Serial converter, some don’t  Hence, depending on the device, I use this, or that USB port…

Ah…sorry, just read that you tried it already. Maybe just post the hardware device setting (COM ports) of you computer when it is plugged in.

Hello!
Its been a while but now I have tried using a external power source for power supply but that didn´t work either. Of course I tried again a few different USB Ports but with no success.

@tobiokanobi : Which settings do you mean exactly?

I am sure the Problem lies beneath somewhere there because it never shows any COM ports, when I plug in the Pixhawk. Windows always tries to recognize it as a USB device, fails and shuts it down. It says error code 43.
