Offboard mode without a wifi

In px4 documentation, it mentioned that offboard control from Linux with ROS is recommended. I should have a ground station with ROS, and QgroundControl, communicating with a companion computer over wifi. Is that possible to run the QgroundControl on the companion computer and not use wifi?

the motivation for it is a far autonomous task, outside the range of the wifi.

what is you objetive?

You don’t need QGC at all to perform offboard control.
