# Landing descent speed with range finder

Recently tested landing with a distance sensor (Benewake TFmini Plus) in order to get a slower and smoother landing. I have always felt the landing speed is too high at the minimum `MPC_LAND_SPEED= 0.6` with larger drones.

I thought I was going to be able to use an additional low crawl speed landing `MPC_LAND_CRWL` and `MPC_LAND_ALT3` during manual landing, but it seems like this speed is only used in automatic landing. Is it possible to use crawl speed in manual landing?

In testing it does use `MPC_LAND_CRWL` under `MPC_LAND_ALT3` but not manual.
