Is a companion computer needed for obstacle avoidance

I am new to using a pixhawk4, I am using RADAR sensors to detect obstacles, can the pixhawk 4 be used for this or do I need a companion computer to process the data? I am only looking for it to simply detect an obstacle and move around it through trial and error
