So I’m trying again today, running the PX4+Gazebo on 192.168.42.1 and QGroundControl on my laptop on 192.168.42.20, and this seems to work. This is probably because QGroundControl is already set up to listen to port 14550.

So for some reason, my custom GroundControl application ([which is what MAVSDK apps default to](https://mavsdk.mavlink.io/develop/en/api_reference/classmavsdk_1_1_mavsdk.html#classmavsdk_1_1_mavsdk_1acaeea86253493dc15b6540d2100a1b86)) even when it tries to listen to port 14550 does not connect to the simulated drone.

I think @dagar, you said your setup was the same as I have now in this [reply](https://discuss.px4.io/t/running-gazebo-and-px4-sitl-in-different-machines/2609/4). Do you know what I can do to make my custom controller app or even the MAVSDK takeoff\_and\_land demo connect to the simulator? Thanks
